Jasmine, I appreciate the revelation about how Skender became a sloth. It was not of his own choosing. What will it take for the spell on Skender to be broken? Will true love break the spell? Witches and demons seem to attracted to each other inspite of their generally not trusting each other. I am looking forward to reading about Marieās next move toward Skender. Could Skender ever fall in love with her?
oh my Skenderšš„ŗšš„ŗš my heart aches for you š„š„ŗš„š„ŗ He's alone, betrayed and everything are all lies.Come to think of it,Angelica and Will are the ones that have been genuinely true to him. Well maybe the other demons have been in their little way. I hope Rayven helps out in Skender redeeming himself. But how will Skendz redeem himself? How is his destroyer side gonna come out? Is he bound to fall in love with a witch too? I was leaning on Marie's side at first, but I'm not sure anymore. Does it have to be her? Or is there another witch/creature/human that'll give him true love he deserves, hopefully be the one to washed away all this pain? ( not wanting anything else from him but only to give love) I hope Skender will have that. Looking forward to the destroyer becoming the defender! thanks for the chap.š
1.1 On Skenderās restitution. A walk to the past. This chapter was so dramatic, yet it was music to my ears. Whatever restitution Skender gets is. I know that we will be seeing a dark version of him and that Iāll have to go all Lucrezia on him but for the time being, justice done to him feels like it is justice done to me. Itās been hard seeing him unjustifiably attacked and admonished so often throughout this volume. I donāt know how many times I even wrote that the sloth of which heās supposed to be guilty I couldnāt really find. In his actions in this volume, at least. Iāve always seen him trying and working. He tried to save a life and was even blamed for it (how is that possible?) He was even blamed for being seen in his demon form because he was incompetent. Turns out it wasnāt even his fault. I remember saying back then that there were only two things I found questionable. In the end only remains. Taking Angelica to the river. He liked her (not romantically, he had already figured that out) and wanted to see her one last time (by then he already knew that killing her father would be inevitable despite his efforts), so he indulged himself. Well, he probably shouldnāt have. Not only was he going to have to kill her father, but it was confusing for her. In the human world, in those times, such small things had great implications, especially for a womanās life. But both from his intentions and from the results, it wasnāt even that bad. Second thing, and this one was stronger, was his ālack of aidā. Fortunately, we now know that he was on his way to do it but was manipulated. Back then, when she was being harassed, I remember thinking: if he took William, couldnāt he do something for her? Help her get to another kingdom, start a new life (same thing Rayven, in one of his best and most unnoticed moments, with his hair pulled back ā I never forget that detail - offered her, giving her way out) perhaps? After all, he was a king and he had wealth and power. But then we found out who was behind. We cannot blame him for this either. Lucrezia had other plans. Anyway, all this to say that Iāve had a hard time blaming him. In general. For the many things that he was accused of and still is even now (he had his chance etc.) and for the sin heās supposed to be paying for as well. I never found arguments to blame him for not being able to defend Ramona or his parents. He was powerless. How could he be to blame? I donāt know why he says he was late to help her. Who knows, maybe he was too late to chase after her when she left uttering those hurtful words and he blamed himself for believing them in the first placeā¦ Either way, with the information weāve got so far, I always found that if heās guilty of something, it must be for being idle afterwards. You CAN be a defender without powers. You only need to stand up for whatās right. But he was depressed. Being born an archdemon, a defender at that, and not having the powers to do so is something that messes up a personās self-esteem and mind. After losing the people he loved, not falling into depression, self-loath and numbness seems like a little too much to ask. It is actually a merit beyond words that he sought help. Or did you not see how Lucrezia phrased it? Yes, he needs to be redeemed, as do we, every single one of us. But again, with the information we have so far, his sin, failing to defend, has way too many nuances and can be hardly considered that. I have never really believed in his punishment. I believe that all these years he wasnāt being punished; he was being trained. Trained to find his inner strength. To grow and become wiser and stronger, so that heād be ready when the time came.
