I am pleased that Angelica asks Rayven the types of questions that make him reveal more about himself. He tells Angelica truths about himself that are unbelievable In the natural. In this chapter, I see a mutually caring relationship developing between Angelica and Rayven. Angelica trusts Rayven to protect her. I hope he never betrays that trust.

I love Jasmine how you won't ever stop surprising us. This is certainly an unforeseen development, at least for me. Don't be mad at me girls if I don't go and interpret this as full on romantic. I think, as always with Rayven, it I all about reaction. In this case reaction to a big scare. As back in the carriage was his behaviour to seeing her so afraid. Lucrezia did her job well. I'm not very confident Angelica would've ended up in his chamber had it not been for the imminent attack of the shades that I’m somehow starting to think maybe was a bit of an exaggeration...?Not that they're not out there and the threat isn't very real or that they won’t attack in the future, both Wiliam and her, or that what he's been doing hasn't been very very bad...God knows I've been very bothered with him for this...Well, shock seems to be working and he seems to be starting to understand. I think there's a logic to Rayven and that it is something he's said himself many times. He's a man of action. Or more accurately, a man of reaction, at that. At least so far. Reaction is the form of action void of clear intention. Sometimes it is a bad thing because it means we’re prisoners, we don’t truly own ourselves. In Rayvens case, well sure, definitely…. But, somehow, his reactions have proofed better than his actions, and have showed us the better part of himself. Most of the time at least. They have for instance showed us what he doesn’t want to admit, what he’d like not to be but can’t help being, caring, kind and unselfish even, concerned. What he could be should he choose not to be so afraid. Yes, he’s reacted to his heart bleeding by shutting everything and everyone away, but once he’s been forced to deal with which he’s tried to avoid and ignore and shut away, he’s always acted the right way. Because as much as he would not like it to be so, that’s his instinct towards her. Cornered, the net tightening, he keeps reacting, first he buys her, then he’s forced to comfort her and fight with her and now… The only possibility for this Rayven to exist is fear, not fear OF her but fear FOR her. The Rayven on a death trip, the one who tries to kill her, or leave her and makes all those plans, the one who doesn’t want her to touch him, but who at the same time had such a hard time to keep his demon at bay after that kiss wouldn’t be able to see her undress and have her in his bed had a sword not been put against his /her chest… “Of all the bad things I have done, I feel today was the worst.” The realization of the danger he’s put her in has hit him hard. Yes, he did think of that, but I guess either his utter selfishness or being so immerse in his wallowing in self-pity, in the labyrinth of his broken mind, living each second in tension and fear of being close to her… well, he mustn’n have thought about it too well. By openly marrying her without “securing safety” which I assume means her being informed and he, making her his mate, he’s sent an open invitation to the shades. So now we can be happy, he’s gonna lock her in his room to make sure she’s safe!!! Boy is this going to be interesting and intense….God I can’t wait!

Awe sometimes I really wish he was able to read her mind. I mean he probably feels as though she is repulsed by him and not wanting to be with him yet she is just nervous because she is still untouched. I have a feeling when the time comes whenever it comes it will be gentle and sweet 🥰🤗

This was a sweet chapter. I bet Rayven was surprised that Angelica said don't leave when he was going to leave, but not when he asked her if she was sleeping. Awww Rayven read to Angelica that is so sweet. Oh my gosh I am anxious about what is going to happen next. Thanks Jazz for the chapter! I can not get enough of this book. I feel like an addict addicted to this book 🤣🤣 like I need more and more of it! So, I read other books to hold me over until a new chapter is released, but I feel like I am cheating on and betraying this book when I do 🤣🤣🤣🤣. I love getting lost in this book.

Rayven's coming around, those one liner replies are all a start, and even if he doesn't admit it, he worries for Angelica and pretty much protect her in the upcoming chapters. I think he's begun to realize all his doings. Reading her a story is another change, he didn't want to do it at first but eventually did it, following Angelica's wishes.I loved that Angelica doesn't believe he had no heart, I'm sure she'd find a way to make Rayven's heart beat loudly as it can again ( and it will..FOR HER) thanks Jazzy💕

These chapters of “Heart of Darkness” are like Lays Potato Chips. I can’t be satisfied with just one. I have the appetite to read this novel chapter after chapter after chapter until I have totally consumed it. Then I would this novel again. I feel sorry for the readers of other online novels who have not chosen to read Jasmine’s story of Angelica and Rayven. Those readers are missing out on a gourmet meal.

Thank you Jasmine for the amazing chapter, as always! 🥰 As many stated, I think too that Lucrezia may have exaggerated the level of threat to push him towards Angelica. Just so that they could spend this night together, force him to feel and not run away like he does. I feel like we might have the scene of Angelica looking for Rayven's heartbeat repeating itself in the (distant 🥲) future, but with him showing her how it's back and beating again FOR HER. Would be a sweet mirror image 😊

Don't get me wrong, I want them to be together but even if he makes her his mate she won't be any safer from the shades. The Lords aren't safe from them either. He's going to have to put a plan in place to protect her going forward! She's going to think he's embarrassed of her when he won't let her leave their home. She won't understand it's for her safety. I wish he'd explain it to her in a way she'll understand and not get her feelings hurt but that's doubtful.....

I believe that Angelica is slowly reeling Rayven in. As hard as he tries he's caught and there is no way out. It will be interesting to see what happens when he realizes he's falling for her.

I hope when she awakens, he will be right beside her. This will be comforting and reassuring for her. Having read this chapter, the lyrics of this, golden oldie, song came to mind …. Getting To Know You, Getting To Know All About You…. Mr & Mrs Rayven heart ♥️ to heart ❤️ journey begins, as they get to know and learn more about each other.
