I like the realism his feelings showed this chapter. How he doesn’t necessarily need some grand or altruistic motivation to survive. That maybe he can just go with the flow of getting stronger to survive without any other reason. Eventually he might find a purpose or goal but right now he is like a cloud in the sky… just existing. The best part in my opinion is the fact that he isn’t irrationally chasing after Aina like every other mc with a love interest. The fact the he can lose interest in a girl he has been trying to confess to for so long goes to show how significant and traumatizing that moment was when she killed chad. It just feels… reliable I guess. I could see my self feeling the same way as him if I saw something similar.
