Liam!!!!! The meeting was so nice!!! And I get it (did I?). Brunilda reminded Mattheus through Liam and his last statement that in this world you can't just take unconditional kindness as a given- there is no charity, it is better to do it this way and let them earn their worth. And I love Mattheus's inner reactions and the way he doesn't show them outside. That way he's a perfect partner to Brunilda too, and she can surprise him without others catching on. Thank you for the chapter!!! Waiting with Mattheus to see the who and the what;)
Pretty close! This is more something innate to the Lula's little group of orphans that grew up in a harsh environment. Brunilda definitely would not have *forced* them but she also understood why the kids are like that due to having seen some things in their old world. Mattheus, in contrast, is a bit sheltered since he's only grown up in NYC (not even the worst areas or projects).
