6 This is My Battle

Yu Yan sighed. She lied down on the bed and stared at the ceiling. The motel was already quite old, but the structure was stable. It might not too spacious, but it was enough for Feng Mian to live.

"Feng Mian."

"Yes?"

"Do you think that I'm destined to live alone forever?" Yu Yan asked. Her first boyfriend was snatched by her sister. Then her second boyfriend was also taken by her sister.

Feng Mian's eyes widened. "No, of course not. You just met a few jerks in your life that couldn't see your real worth. Maybe someday you'll be able to meet someone who will love you forever. But even if you stay single forever, I'll be your best friend forever."

Hearing that, Yu Yan smiled. She felt glad that she met with Feng Mian. At first, she was only helping Feng Mian a bit in the company because she saw the shadow of her old self in Feng Mian. She was three years older than Feng Mian. At the time she met with Feng Mian, she had just finished her university.

However, she also entered the company a few months before when she was still in her last semester. Because of that, she became Feng Mian's senior when she entered the company.

She managed to become the team leader when Feng Mian was still an intern thanks to her hard work. However, things didn't always go as smooth as one wanted things to be.

"Let's sleep."

"Here?"

"Yes. The bed might be small, but it can fit two people," Feng Mian replied with a grin.

Yu Yan didn't know whether to laugh or cry when she heard what Feng Mian said. She could only nod her head. Besides, Yu Yan didn't have any interest to return back to her apartment. Just thinking of what had happened there made her unwilling to go.

Feng Mian walked to the living room and looked at Zhang Liang. "Liang, do you mind sleeping here tonight? I don't have sofa, but I can take blanket out to create additional bedding in the living room."

The living room was small, but if he pushed the table a bit, there would be enough space for him to sleep. Zhang Liang nodded. He didn't really mind as he had slept in his office a few times too. "Alright. Cover yourself properly and don't catch cold."

"Yes. Sir!"

Feng Mian took the additional blanket she had that was used for her to sleep when her mother came over. After all, she couldn't possibly let her mother sleep on the floor, so she gave up her bed and slept on top of the blanket. After helping Zhang Liang to set it up, Feng Mian walked to her bedroom and noticed Yu Yan sleeping.

She might have been tired after the ordeal.

"Nite, Yan'er."

Lying on the bed, Feng Mian squeezed to make sure the bed was enough for the two of them. She slowly closed her eyes and drifted to sleep.

Yu Yan couldn't sleep for long. She was dreaming that she was back in her apartment, seeing her sister making out with her boyfriend. Her face scrunched in disgust as she repeated what she had done, pouring the hot water from the bathroom to the pair.

Bang!

As Bao Tu punched her face, Yu Yan opened her eyes. She was in Feng Mian's room in the motel. Looking to the side, she could see that Feng Mian was still sleeping sounded. Probably, she was also tired because Yu Yan made her worried sick because of the call.

'Yu Family will surely search for me.'

After throwing boiling hot water to her sister and Bao Tu's face and body, Yu Yan was sure that they wouldn't let her off lightly. All this time, Yu Yan always ignored them and even forgave them when her sister snatched her first boyfriend. She let them off because she didn't want to have any relationship with them anymore.

She could only think that her ex-boyfriend was a complete jerk that abandoned her because of her sister. Still, the pain existed, which led her to drink her sorrow away with wine.

But now, Yu Yan could no longer tolerated her family. Once again, they intervened with her life. She laughed internally at her stupidity. She thought that Bao Tu was the perfect man to her because he was so gentle and kind, but things didn't work out the way she wanted to.

He came when she was in pain and heartache, easing her heart by being pushy and made her laugh with his hearty joke. It was also thanks to him that she could forget her first boyfriend faster.

But…

Things were not going so perfect.

He was also enraptured by her sister, who was certainly more beautiful and talented than her.

'I should just forget him.'

Yu Yan sat down and looked at Feng Mian. Truthfully, there was another reason as to why Yu Family was adamant to search for her, but it was something that Yu Yan couldn't reveal to outsiders.

If someone else knew this secret of hers, they would be chasing after her and probably used some unsound means to get their hands on the secret in her hand. This is her battle and she would not implicate her best friend more than necessary.
