An average human can read 250 wpm(words per minute) with a compression rate of 70%, so if he read 23 in a day, that is impossible, well a very good reader can read 1000 words per minute, but tho it still isn't possible that many.
Not logic, but that the internal laws or the world are respected, if it was given a reason it was respect why he can read so many books so fast, i wouldn't typed this, and doesn't matter if it is fiction, when they build a world with it's logic then the authors should respect their own laws, anyway you shouldn't forgive bad writing if it is in a fiction, fictional worlds have their logic because it grounds that world and you can be sucked in it.
