The sky was cloudy but surprisingly bright. A brief swim in the pool instead of the ocean sounded like a good idea since the pool was closer to the vacation rental. Three children, all cousins of each other played in the pool while the others built a puzzle. We three cousins were the more adventurous type and if our parents found out what we did we might be punished but what use is a vacation at the beach if you don't swim? We spent two hours swimming in the pool then moved to the hot tub. Soon after cool rain fell. Cool rain, a warm hot tub, three giggling preteens, a pretty cloud cover, and no one outside in fear of lighting, it was like we had the whole complex to ourselves! It was amazing! Though knowing lightning might come soon we scrambled out of the hot tub and ran to the gaming room which was also vacant giving us plenty of time to dry before our parents finally came looking for us. We got away with an early morning swim and got to watch the lightning striking the ocean from large plate windows. It was a glorious feeling and a memory I still look back on with glee.
