YESS I love politics in novels. I don't like when MC is like "oh noo! I hate politics! Let's bash heads like common barbarian!". In fsct one of the best chapters I ever read in novel (kingdoms bloodline) was a battle.... Verbal fight for several chapters between Mc and group of nobles from foreign country. It was awe inspiring how Mc battled with traps, suggestions, manipulations, etc
