The sudden retreat is definitely suspicious. I think now the crown Prince has tested Gavriel he will approach the humans to form an alliance. Possibly by claiming that Gavriel is far too powerful and potentially implying to Evie's father that she's in grave danger with him. I'm not certain that allowing their opponents to retreat will prove to be the wisest move for Gavriel in the long run, but I just truly hope that Evie will confess her nightmare as soon as possible so that they may try to avoid the coming tragedy.
