Mind Flayer seems like the only reasonable choice in reality. Killing everyone would be fine in a game that ends with a specific short term objective, but if he wants to actually live a life for as long as possible then stealth is the only option that really makes sense to me.

What if he just takes Over the baby while his current body dIes either in combat or via accident? This way he gets free points via breast feeding and nobody would be suspicious of his personality and such as they chalk it up to it being a baby?

Who want to be ugly looking monster when you can have absolute control over minds in the long run. Also the mind doesnt mean its limited to humans. The Faceless devourer might seem potentially OP BUT there are no confirmed lifeforms thats OP shown here.. its basically a few attacking aliens that humans can handle and humans themselves. Also the technology is so advanced with the humans. why would you spend your whole life as a apex predator with other non intelligent beings if you can stay in human form thats strengthened, with the help. of advance technotechnologies of human and being with a group of intelligent race plus the mind flayer potential abilities to. control the whole race whenever yoyou want to in the future. the resources youll get by controlling a whole civilization is the best thing ... IF THERES NO APOCALYPTIC CREATURE PLANNING TO KILL THE WHOLE RACE.. so yeah.. mind flayer wins...

I would choose faceless devourer and partially transform the patts i want. Especially if there are other species and extraterrestrials. Take the pros while slowing getting rid of the cons and become an apex being. Might makes right, I guess.

YESSS?! mind Flayer! Is so good! Shapeshift er is most powerful physically due to later having an ability to Gian innate skills of others, Hive queen cna make armies. But mind Flayer is best equipped to deal with tinkering species such as humans. And being more intelligent is big big honus .. Also,sincenmc is a human intelligence he can make best use of mind Flayer in comparison to true aliens.

honestly im quite disappointed mind flayer was chosen it sounds like a psionic but the way its described here is that its something that hides in the shadows like a coward and never fights head on or has any real combat abilities, im gonna continue reading the free chapters in hopes this changes but its unlikely so ill probably drop at that point, it was good while it lasted though

Logically, realistically, mind flayer is by far the best choice. but the transformation path is waaaaaaaaay cooler

faceless devourer had that ability to gain the passive abilities of other crew right? that's what I think I would go for.

Since the author kinda asked for ideas, here's what I think. I think being a hive queen and playing the long game is an option. You don't have to go tier 3. Raise your baby and wife and side chick and best friend then the captain. Boom. Maybe if you don't pick one for a long time you can unlock a hidden thing that let's you do some other evolution path. Or, if you're raising some other parasites (no matter your path) can they be pushed to take different forms and stuff?
