I really hate that Charyn didn’t just tell him the other truth: that Suhle had to get to the encampment, to tell Asta and Craye the change of plans. Did she just let him think she was considering defying Reth, because she had found her true mate? If Charyn did know the plan, why did he think the ‘She found her true mate.’ avenue, was more likely to prevent the wrath of Reth, than the ‘She needed to get there immediately, to help stop the progression of the war.’ I was hoping he’d be lenient on her, once he knew it was the only way to stop the war. But he wasnt even told that part. I hate the decision Reth made, but he didn’t have all the facts. I’m glad he didn’t kill him.
I know Reth react liked this because of the pressure he’s under BUT his citizens truly have no respect for him, his position, his authority, the throne. Like they all actin like Reth really is the friendly, lovable nice guy that says yes to everything. Charyn forced Reth’s hand because what he did was soooo reckless. If he didn’t punish him severly, he’d practically creating his own and the kingdom’s downfall. True mate or no true mate, intel or no intel - Charyn completely undermined the KING’s authority, and during a time of WAR to boot! Imagine if that gave a general, commander, fist leader the idea to start making their own plans. Like the wolves!!! Ah wahala dey oh!!
decisions shouldnt be made in the heat of anger. And Reth should listen. He cannot control everyone and everything. Had he locked Charyn up for a day or 2, he would probably had gained better understanding as a whole. ugh, men lol. I love Reth but this is not a good thing. Probably a regret for his shoulders to carry forever....
so many uncalled for decisions. Reth noe is not thinking right and instead worrying about others may think. if he is doing the right thing king or not it shouldn't matter what others thinks. this was not a good decision on his part or Char's. Reth should have listened to her fully then made a decision. this may cost him 🤔 he will need some self reflected and correction here
