Good story but the attitude of the mc ruined it.. If you gonna put something as dark as the word "torture" in your story atleast take responsibility as it's frustrating for readers seeing mc just taking death for granted just because he has the power to revive life. I will understand if you want it to be realistic as possible but your focusing on children here that's not quite suits the atmosphere
