I don't get the whole holding back thing. I mean he want to convey the power of friendship/family ti Laxus but somehow got trashed by Laxus instead.

in 7dSins exist powerlevel at least and experience to, meliodas have +3000 experience he fight more than anyone if his magic gone and you nerfed him that much its okey, cuz in fairy tail there is no powerlevel but just comparison of anime and you know who is bigger, if meliodas close to laxus power there is no way laxus have experience and techniques to much meliodas in fight even if he is holding back it like veteran martial artist 60 years old have blackbelt vs 6 years old kid he just start learning. author you competely forgot experience
