paying karma? he is just a slave of karma, if karma is high on him, he have to pay it back. That means he is not unrestrained. What he did was pure self-righteous and I didn't like that. The motive of cultivation is to become stronger and defy your fate. However since he is restrained by his fate of karmic virtues, he wouldn't be really unrestrained; You might retort me back that he defied his fate by being back to common sense but there was no need to pay back his karma by being 'self-righteous' Being back to common sense from what you called sealed fate of being demon is what I call being unrestrained but soon after returning to his common sense he turned to the fate of self righteous guy. So it was all the same in the end. He was moved by fate wheel from the evil to good. He wasn't exactly unrestrained.
