Was it bad, yes, but did not emotionally and physically abuse her - at least so far in her story. Dane's dad, however, was victious with others, especially his own family. IMO, Lila's dad gave her valuable life skills to succeed and protect herself. Whereas, Dane and Chris were forced be Doug's trained hunting dogs that were taught to bite their master or else suffer his wrath.
