I was just thinking about how unusual it was to find a story that had “normal” family troubles. I’m not saying that they don’t exist, more that they are often (!) resolved simply or quickly. Whereas in this story they continually enter the story and impact, if only in minor ways, the flow of the story. I know that’s overly broad, and I also recognise that it’s not necessarily unique, but the amount of influence it has to the story is uncommon with this style of story.
