Was the king supposed to be in love with the Golden Rose? If I remember correctly, the twins said that his fated mate would appear during the full moon that is why they held the ball, but they also said that the golden rose would appear during (a certain specific time that I don't recall rn) but i do not remember them saying that he was supposed to fall for the GR. I'm not making any sense right now, I think I have to reread the part with the twins.
