Oh... Yeah if this is your way of getting us to pity Gerald for having a sad background it's failed mainly because mcs always had it worse than this guy and mc isn't even remotely as cruel as Gerald so mcs got a complete moral high ground to later punish this bastard (we can't judge mc either for exacting punishment on people as its literally his job now)

And what is your point of giving us that last bit of snippet? If your reason is to make us feel sympathy toward him, then it's a waste of time.
