this is the first time I get to read a story about South Asian women. I don't know when this novel was written because I don't think this inhumane treatment on women couldn't be noticed. I feel so disappointed with the FL. she's a doctor, for goodness' sakes! First time she realized her husband's insanity and cruelty, she should have taken steps early to leave him no matter how dangerous it could be. it's "liberty or death" situation. Story is good but I guess I'm looking for women empowerment here.
