me think an important character's death is always interesting, and you've done it quite well! :D

I think its beautifully written due to the bitterness of a pointless death. Part of me wishes she would have killed the human monster first, though. I’ll be interested to see how you use her death to drive the plot forward for your MC. Despite the author note, I’m still half expecting a fake-out death here! Double fake-out?
