beside the supernatural thingy and the unexpected jump into this story. I like this novel a lot

the whole supernatural every part. it sorta sucks but.. it's sorta original and different? the problem is we aren't used to it? Or even more like: author explain to us why it's called that, supernatural, meaning it's special, not normal, fantasy like. The problem lies in, is he living in a village where magical stuff is the work of god's? don't think so, there are tons of supernatural stuff all around the place, meaning it's pretty god damn natural, so it could simply have its own name. u simply used it in place of magical, magic item, or arcane class, arcane item. which in itself isn't a problem but it does rub us readers the wrong way, cuz supernatural is mostly used for the unknown or people's imagination and paranoid paranormal activities. which don't fit this setting, bcuz of a basic point: it's known, there are jobs that study plants, craft, smelt... how could the people have drawn the line between normal and supernatural? the lowest supernatural metal compared to a diamond? so supernatural is somehow the equivalent of not known to our real world and real science where u have drawn a line, which in the end, I must say I sorta reader friendly, u don't have to explain as mutch by using supernatural, especially not for noobs on this genre.
