Wow this story really is just working through a bunch of religious trauma isn't it. I mean that I no bad way, but between Bestellen cult and this entire narrative of a father losing his children because he let his love when conditional to following the belief of the tribe, it's hard not to make that conclusion. What I really enjoy so far though is absolutely no "he who does not work does not eat" BS as every economy has been different to the culture and society it's relevant to. So often it's one rule shown to be essential and then proven right in fantasy, but here it embraces multi-cultural integration of many values. I hope my ramblings aren't too annoying
