The whole shirt number deal feels so forced to make drama. I mean, he's a black player in the most racist league, theres more natural drama to find.
That can happen anywhere. Remember what happened to Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Bukayo Saka in England after the Euro 2020 final. Let's also remember that racist behavior is from individuals not whole communities. It also doesn't influence top decisions in top clubs, like Juventus or AC Milan.
I think Zach is realistic and considerate, his arguments for the most part is sound as to the shirt number. He is also being humble, this is a bigger stage for him hence his humility is admirable. A shirt number does for some players have significant meaning, its not just a number, its also its weight and responsibility. Zach, I think understands the weight of a number 10 football shirt, its not just for show.
