i honestly think everyone is exaggerating. firat of all yes by what the author has described congo is highly volatile. but at the same time zach did move his grandma to the savest part of the country. also just because it’s a third world country and can be described as somewhat ”poor”, doesn’t mean having an audi is like asking to get robbed. as someone who actually is from a third world country (indonesia), let’s say there’s someone who drives ferrari in a remote village, sure people are gonna be weirded out and excited, but doesn’t necessarily mean they’re gonna steal it right away or kill the owner. just because there are bad people, doesn’t mean that the majority aren’t good people. some people just might not care at all.
the author, before the trip, established that risky and stressful situations improve the most backward mental aspect of the MC, this with the protagonist's stupid idea of putting a luxury car in a place of war and extreme poverty. obvious what will happen
