i think i read 2 jap novels with the start like this. one the mc ingame is a necromancer dead skeleton who built a huge guild with other players who had nonhuman avatars, the other a red hair vampire angel who collected gacha monsters and wrote ingame lores about herself

So it was a VR BROWSER game? That makes very little sense... It was either a VR game, in which case taking a while to confirm he was not just playing anymore makes sense. Or it was a browser game, in which case it makes NO sense that he would not immediately know it was not just the game anymore. Also, that is a MESSED UP move on the developer's part. Include an achievement/title for doing something that takes 10+ YEARS, and then shut the game down just before it is possible to complete the achievement.

Reminds me of that one Steam game, (Hero X Grilfriend)?, where you are Ralph and permanently reduced to level 1 but can buy +5 to all stats after getting dungeon points. Fun game but it always crashed after a certain point.
