Reed is a liar and Gaius pretend to be a good man but he is a cheater l like Clarke the most he is simple and easy to believe and Gaius know him well that he is not expressive that much... That doesn't mean that they leave him like that..

I posted this in a paragraph comment but I'm 100% certain the only reason he had two kids with Gaius was to baby trap him. From the way he treats his kids vs Reed.. it's clear he doesn't care about anything other than Gaius, owning and controlling him utterly and making him dependent on him financially which is another form of abuse. You guys can clamor on and on about Clarke being better but the reality is they're both horrible people, Yunyu is bad too but at least Yunyu and Reed care about the kids and I mean truly care about them. I grew up being emotionally neglected and given gifts to appease me simply because my parents had no time to care for me and worked all the time. I learned that just because I can understand it when I'm older that it doesn't mean that it's still okay. I'd rather be poor and starving and know the love of a parents hug and love and attention... so I genuinely feel for these kids and I'm actually so happy they at least have Yunyu to give them love and attention and protection.
