I think it would be interesting if eventually the MC grows to the point that he can use his skill in water and blood bending to become un-aging and semi-immortal. That way you can potentially continue the story into the Legend of Korra season.

Since you mentioned the whole empath thing and Akira told Aang to basically make a world worth not killing for are you going to basically use him as a metaphor for the current level of violence/ disregard for life in the world? So if the world becomes a better place Akira becomes more peaceful, or atleast more willing to save lives rather than take them. Because if you are its a very cool theme. You can make Aang mroe responsible for helping the world as a whole heal. Would be kinda cool. Either way, loving the story so far.

i just realized if you become an advanced grand master with blood bending...you can technically have eternal youth if you rejuvenate blood cells and the heart and the like...
