I loved the block buster comment I haven't thought of that place in decades. How ever the start of early internet was roughly 91 to 92 from what I can remember. So it would be a video cassette or laserdisc Betamax just died. Laserdisc were the precursor of DVD but we're the size of lp records. Finally how high came out in 01 so it's a decade to early jim Carrey was just getting popular. I would recommend karate kid or Rad which was a very popular in our age group putting your character at 13 in 91 he is the same age as my sister and born roughly 77. Rad was a bmx movie. we rollerskated, did bmx and skate board. Street ball yes even the non popular kids it's what we did for fun in the pre cell phone internet era.
