Comments of chapter undefined of Elite Mages' Academy

I do not understand this arc . Yhe woman mage desperately wants to win,so is MC and he was worried about Gu Xiaoyue life. Why did he not choose the sure win formula he had used against dawn academy .It does not risk Gu Xiaoyue life if she fought in the secondary abilty contest .It was sure win. Why force the story to an exciting flow that is illogical. Ten years of life lost is ten years and Gu Xiaoyue has non to spare. Stupid author
