The story is not slow. Perfect pace, world building interspersed with progress on the MC side. Character building as well. This is a promising start. Rushing into the action can work if you make long flashbacks 5 chapters in but if otherwise rushed atories will get stuck in power creep and slapfacing to keep their entertainment value.

drop MC don't have backbone for me the story can suck but not having backbone is like saying i can't breath
