Wouldn't he have been able to get out of the situation using Izanagi? Granted, their is still time for him to do that in the next chapter by erasing this reality where he dies from chakra drainage.

This is good. He is rather inconsequential for the plot. Maybe give Kakashi the other sharingan and a little bit of body modification to help him use the eyes well
