Not to compare the stories but this novel reminds me of The Beginning After The End. It is both a novel and a comic. The start of his birth is kinda similar to that. I am not trying to promote that Novel/Comic so if u don't think this comment is suitable plase reply. I'll delete it.

I like how it just hints at what's to come with the magic system but not really showing what was possible when using it.
