i think you should have choosen philippine eagle for his bird animagus. If you search it on google i think it look closer to a phoenix.

Not horrible choices. Outright great in terms of now living creatures. However, if you aimed for extinct ones, you could have become an Argentavis och some abbrevation of the 10-13M crocodiles. The kind that ate even T-rexes upon occasion.

honestly the knife would probably have been better designed as a throwing knife or a barebones (haha) dagger, but being a combat knife with a leather wrapped handle will sorta limit its capabilities (can slash and stab but that handle will snag if you try and go right through, too bulky). I'm sorta imagining a KA-BAR or a bayonet style combat knife, though I guess given the setting a Fairbairn Sykes maybe be more appropriate.

MC really should have 2 animagus forms the phoenix and the cat. The cat form could help him with stealth ops

I was wondering if you thought about putting a safety feature in the knife. Because if a thought can trigger it how can he avoid hurting some he cares for when he reacts out of reflex when beeing stated or scared
