What an emotional turmoil. For real though, Derek should have just went ahead and married the guy he wanted from the start and not settle for what's normal. Now he's got some regrets even though he ended up loving his wife.
you can't help loving the one you do. Love isn't suppose to make sense, and they had feelings for each other in the past which didn't go away but continued to get stronger. They obviously are loyal to each other. I say go for it!
