What is that”—-ah no,” in the one of the few paragraphs kinda confusing

Yikes the novel has dropped in the ranking bc of this stupid vampire / time travel bs. Let's just hope it does not get cancelled lol.

I get that they have to show the effects of negary's action rewriting history and getting new subordinates but this thing is only slightly better than chromie. I get the approach is to show the growth of other characters since lord negary will just be doing boring absorption stuff but still this entire chapter was just about one part of a fight explaining all sorts of techniques that unless we're gonna get a vampire or demon slayer god will be rendered irrelevant to the story until lord negary comes across something that reminds him of and even that will just be a slight after thought. And this is coming from someone who writes stories about inhumane characters and will have to use this method frequently. I'm just saying that for such short chapters these boring filler moments are meant to be accompanied by how they affect characters who actually matter and will thus affect the story.
