if i am right, it is all for the water seed. show off and win the heart of princess. enter tournament. find that lotus. defeat that tyrant level beast. and get water seed. this is what i think author is going for. going towards cannon route (at least similar) have the benefit of most power up chance. since that is the way "mc" took with plot armor
