Okay, cool. Lucas died. Hope that his death will further improve Kalani's character. (I actually don't like it when the author revives a dead character for no apparent reasons.)
I knew someday they would fight each other... but to find that Kalani's dead, it's a whole different thing.
Maybe his potential would be unlocked if he tasted the taste of death... maybe.
