I'm Ink
Ever since Grasping Evil moved to webnovel it's gone downhill. First of all we got a 1 month delay when it moved platform. Then in consideration of inconvenience suffered by readers they then put 1 month's worth of chapters we had already read behind a paywall giving us a further month's wait. Now it looks like we have another month long wait while they get privilege chapter stock up or some other unspecified reason. Considering that on Veratales it got to chapter 395 with daily updates and no major delays and now on webnovel to get an additional 36 chapters we have got 3 months of delays it seems something isn't right...
as an ancestor in webnovel formerly known as qidian the dumbest move authors can make is enter this ponzi scheme in disguise Webnovel. the ruiner of good books in my opinion, delay after delay and nothing to show for it. i had to wait to catch up to Veratales on Webnovel only to be blocked again because of haitus. not cool
When this happened with the past couple of chapters, I thought it was a mistake. However, now that this has happened again, I see that additional half-finished chapters are being added in an attempt to convince people to purchase more chapters. This is the only reason I can think of posting half-finished chapters. I'm glad I realize this now.
That's thing I find bizarre with webnovel's business decisions. Being realistic to get the novel from veratales they must have paid quite a bit of money to the TL to transfer it over as even if original version is Qidian's the translations aren't so often quite a big fee is involved for previously translated chapters. So we end up in a situation where either webnovel has decided it's not profitable in which case earlier investment was wasted or the TL has quit/been fired. If the TL has quit I wonder if they got sold promises of income that don't materialise although it would all be confidential.
I've got to the point where I just assume that every novel not updated for 1 week has been permanently dropped. My advice is just add it to your library and then ignore it for a few weeks and then check your library for chapter updates. Pretty much everything I read here has been dropped without any notification. Webnovel is pretty much trying to transition into original novels as they don't have to pay licensing or translation fees and to be honest I don't really see them resuming any translations they've dropped.
