I think your pace is fine, they are 5 and cant do much that age, this way its better than constant time skips

Why would you accept a smaller reward or teach them in the first place essentially giving away knowledge that has a large amount of uses, he’s in a childs body not a child so the lack of intelligence is infuriating.

You know at this point one is walking down the path of destruction and death, creating manuals for fighting and killing and the other is going down the path of creation and life, healing powers, creating new metals and weapons(still used for killing but eh). Anyway I think that's a really good thing
