I must say, the rare shared moments between Theodore and Lucy are some of the most meaningful. They don't say much or do much, but they very subtly convey a lit of suppressed emotion. Very lovely but heartbreaking.

Poor Lucy..Just like she said her wound prevented her from showing emotions rendering her docile, thats exactly what her mother wants. To her family, Lucy is just a doll to play with. Her own mother knows so little about her...Theo has instantly spotted an issue with Lucy’s health that her ignorant mother has never picked up on. In the last chapter, Lucy says how she wanted to get dry so she doesnt catch a cold & her mother scoffs at her. Samara repeatedly demands the title of mother yet repeatedly she demonstrates she isn’t fit to be one!
