Vlad is so proud of Cal but he knows he takes after him so it makes it difficult for him to trick him. Also, glad to hear he sent a Salvatte Mortem to bring Maddie's soul in the case of her death not that I want her to die but it's very wise of him to make sure she doesn't go to heaven so Cal can still see her.
