Albeit unfortunately having shield is not sexy therefore cultivation novels don't have them. So it's not fualt of author here tbh. If we were to talk about superior weapon then it's spear. Spear will always win against sword due to reach advantage. And since cultivators forgo usage of shield second hand remains completely empty when MC uses shorts word which is a waste.
