I thought MC growing up in the hood, and he’s acting like a pampered urbanite, being stupid and take on a fight he can’t win. His supposedly advantage is his older self which is also acting dump, giving him minimum guidance and talked down to him. I get frustrated the more I read. And I mostly skimmed, since the story doesn’t pulled me in.
Lolz, I didn't think the book wars were still going on webnovel, Are people using fake accounts to target even dropped stories? Anyways, skimming my type of stories gets you nowhere, as you'll never understand anything. Save yourself the trouble by not reading it any further, as you'll only get more confused. Maybe if you read the story properly, you'll realize that he's doing a test, which he needs to do to get recognized as a Digitizer. Next, his older self is acting exactly how he should. There are reasons why you can't just spill the beans and tell everything to someone younger than yourself. It's basic wisdom for a child to learn on their own by experiencing things for themselves. This type of story is for a more patient reader with a taste for mystery, who reads down the smallest details.
I like the story so far but it is inconsistent. I can tell that the author has no idea what growing up poor is like. At least not to the extent you describe in the story. The background does not match the attitude of the character. My advice: you need to tweak the background quite a bit to match the naive, stupid attitude of the MC. I guarantee you'll impress every critique like me that way.
