there's a comment on the preivous chapter (maybe two chapters ago), that says exacty what happens in the story. They're all snakes, they're going to hatch and wreak havoc on the family and village until Curtis wakes up to deal with them.

The eggs were bigger this time and smaller in number maybe b/c curtis is a stripeless beast, or maybe they are Snakes and birds that would be interesting
