"This woman truly knew what she was doing" Am I the only person who feels like that's just common sense? I've seen a lot of stories where the protagonist sits by and doesn't invest a single point into anything because they want to wait. That's actually such a stupid reason, you're not always going to have time to invest your points into things, and sometimes you'll need that extra strength immediately because you'll die if you can't block that hit, you'll die if you don't have enough defense to tank that explosion, you'll die if you cannot dodge that blade, you'll die if you cannot sense that person behind you. But since you wouldn't have the time to invest points to do any of those things you'll just die. But if you been had invested a few you could've easily dodged that arrow, you could've easily tanked that explosion, you could've easily parried that sword, why wait til the last minute to invest your points? So you can rack up injuries, and waste time and energy fighting someone with equal strength to you, when you could've very easily ended the fight without a scratch or breaking a sweat, much earlier? You'd think she'd realize that this isn't a game by now and that this is real life. There is no underestimating people unless you want to die and she's technically underestimating the entire fucking planet by not investing her points into anything and just hoarding them. She can very easily die before she would even know what happened. All because she'd be facing off against someone leagues ahead of her, when she could've closed the gap between them by simply investing more into something. It's like she knows she has plot armor, and expects herself to never go up against someone who could kill her before she could even blink. I can understand saving a few points every now and then, but the act of literally investing nothing? Or barely investing anything because "I don't feel like the time is right" is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever seen. It's like she expects the world to stay stagnant. Smfh. I hate reading **** like that because that's a very stupid way of thinking that only hurts you in the end. And it's a lesson most protagonists never learn from either. So I can never get that satisfying reflection where they'll learn not to hoard all their points for the boss fight, because that boss won't just be conveniently waiting for you behind a spectacularly designed door, and will actually pop up anywhere around you with no prior warning.
I agree with you, but just to play devil’s advocate, Yuri DOES know she has plot armor, because of the [lucky] talent, the author wasn’t subtle with it either, there were multiple times were Yuri received EXACTLY what she needed. On another note raising Dexterity is the first thing anyone would think to improve her aim, this feels like a forced way of establishing that Laurel knows how to use the system
