From other angle: Grenlet was still alive because he brought Quinn's family along. You can imagine what Quinn would have done if he threatened to kill Quinn and later go after his family 😡😡😡😡😡

seems like quin showdow powers are been upgraded because quin has dragon bloodline .. Krad who first has the shadows did something like that to Ray .. turning the shadow in a dragon or to use the solid form of shadow to capture Ray ... I don't think author can use the showdow like quin does .. after all quin has dragon heritage and krad was a dragon who was the originator of the shadow powers
