I just can't make heads or tails with Bryce. Some chapters, he seems just like a grumpy, but decent guy. Then in the next chapter, he comes off as the most evil dude ever. Great chapter author! Your stories have more twists than M Night Shyamalan!
I think Bryce struggles woth his past and genuine respect for Quinn. Whenever he monologues, It makes him seem like a jerk, but look at his actions. Released Quinn, no follow up charges for Alex, offered him a spot equal to his own and then voted for his wish. Not saying he isnt scheming, but its not like there’s anything he has done in the last two arcs that is dorecred at Quinn that i can think of.
I think Quinn did Bryces job for him. He already wants Quinn out the way. Quinn wanting to leave can allow Bryce to slowly sway the settlement against him who thinks he’s a hero. Cant have someone with more favor than the current king running loose. Especially one who cant be controlled and is unpredictable. Whatever Bryce is planning, Quinn being gone helps him that much more.
Bryce is definitley playing the long game. Though were all unsure where his ideals are. Its interesting that the original, Tempus, likes him. Im interested to see what part he will play, or if he will remain a sort of filler character. But with Quinn now allowed to leave the vamp planet, were gonna return to see how the cursed faction is doing, hopefully still enacted and doing well.
I agree with another comment; I feel Bryce is struggling with his past experiences and a new found respect for Quinn. proof of this is the fact that he doesn't like Arthur and originally tied Quinn in with Arthur but all his actions, at least of late, have been nice to Quinn, he only attacked Quinn in his castle because he thought Quinn was trying to kill kazz, he told Quinn the plan he had for his execution instead of attempting to take 2 birds out with 1 stone, he proposed the idea of making Quinn his equal, and now he is even voting and allowing Quinn to leave and also stay to protect his family. sure Bryce is scheming somthing, and sure his idea for Quinn to be a punisher may have helped him in some way but let's not gloss over the fact that when Quinn asked to leave, Bryce was already ready to accept and as king had the power to do so but put it to the council because that's how it should be done. I feel if Bryce can get past his grievances against the 10th family, or maybe he has as no one left in that family had anything to do with the past wrong doings, then the vampire world has gotten a great new king
