I dont know what country you are working in, or indeed what country you are from but I would suggest getting your Union involved, seeking legal representation, and applying for another job. Whilst things are shady just play the waiting game with them, compile evidence and then when the time is right you can leave without notice due to extenuating circumstances...

hey sorry they are being like that. if you need time take it. your life and livelyhood is more important than this story or us. we all understand there are things beyond your control and we can't be so selfish as to expect you to choose us over yourself.

I work abroad as a teacher you can reach out to your local embassy. They should have legal experts on staff who can help you.

I'm sure theres someone you could report that kind of behavior to. Like someone in a government position. That all seems super shady and illegal.
