I think this MC is a bit slow and stupid, don't get me wrong, caution is good but paranoia isn't, come on you are in a place surrounded with creatures and darkness and your system which you happen to trust so much says you are compatible with a shadow skill you can definitely learn in a safe container, we all know a shadow skill or ability blends with its surrounding, what better than darkness and what first comes to mind is caution......what the hell....what a stupid move..
