This is a little late but could it be that the inheritor candidate concocts the traps of the maze themselves? The keyword was 'Choose it wisely'. There was also the wonderful cliche of the giant ball trap; if this is so then it would bring a whole new meaning to digging your own grave.

The average person of this world would likely think that Xue is a psichopath if they heard her speaking how undead are cool. Imagine when she shows MeiLan her new toy and speaks of how amazing and cool this is with glittering eyes.
